Boston Ballroom™ FAQ
Singles
Do I need a partner? No, you do not need to bring a partner nor have one to dance with in the beginning. In order to dance well with a partner you first need to develop balance and body coordination of Ballroom and Latin dancing. If I do not have a dance partner who will I dance with? We have other students with and without partners. In the group classes, the students rotate from partner to partner so everyone gets a chance to dance with one another. You get to meet knew people and connect with people while learning how to dance.
How many classes does it take to learn how to dance? Like anything we want to do well in we have to put a little time and effort in to it. We do not learn how to play a sport (i.e. Golf or Baseball or Swimming and do it well) in one lesson. It is the same learning how to dance even one dance. It takes at least 10 lessons to learn the basics of lead and follow and about four to eight dance figures of that one dance. The best way to learn how to dance is through private lessons and group classes. Taking private and group classes together increases your opportunity to practice and know multiple dances with balance and body coordination with confidence!
Can I really learn how to dance? Yes! If you can walk you can dance. If you have two right feet or two wrong feet you can learn to dance. Let our professional dance instructors guide your dance dream. If you are shy or nervous try one of our private lesson packages to get your feet wet. If you are outgoing and want to meet people try one of our group classes.
Will I have to sign a contract or pay in advance? If you are going to take private or group dance lessons we do have everyone sign a contract of liability and general studio policy. We have payment options as listed on our pricing page. We are available to teach you on a pay as you go basis. All lessons (Privates and Groups) are to be paid before the start of the lesson. The group class card and private dance lesson packages offer greater savings if purchased. Payment plans are available.
Will I have a good teacher? Our professional instructors have been teaching for many years and are very experienced in the Ballroom and Latin styles of dance as well as certified dance professional registrants of the National Dance Council of America. Hundreds of happy students have sent us thank you notes and referred Boston Ballroom Dance Center to friends and family.
Do I need to take the Group Classes or Private Lessons? If you are first starting this type of dance with no previous knowledge it is best to arrange and introductory private dance evaluation to look at your goals and determine which program will be suitable for you. If you have basic knowledge of a dance it is advisable to come to a group class. If the group class is difficult for you, private lessons may be needed to answer and dance your specific questions or concerns into confident dance steps.
What dances will I learn? All of our group classes and private dance lessons build from one class to another. We teach Ballroom ( Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Quickstep and Vienese Waltz) and Latin (Cha Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble, and Jive) as well as favorites Salsa, Swing, Mambo, Bolero, Merengue, West Coast Swing, Hustle, Lindy Hop and Disco Fox.
Do I need to be a Member of Boston Ballroom™
Dance Center to take classes? No, you do not need to be a Member to experience the fun and joy of learning how to dance at the Boston Ballroom
™
Dance Center. If you would like additional discounts on classes and unlimited practice time at the dance studio then the BBDC membership offers additional savings.

We have not chosen a song for our first dance, can you help us?
Yes! We have thousands of songs to choose from either by dance genre or by artist. Want to dance a Rumba, no problem, we can help you to choose an appropriate song suitable for your first dance and meaningful to you as a couple. Let our instructors put your mind at ease and help you to choose the perfect song for your special occasion.
We have chosen our Song, How do we know what dance it is or how to dance to it?
After you play the song for us we will determine which dance is appropriate to the beat of the song, and choreograph steps or patterns that the gentlemen can lead and the lady can follow. We will teach you everything you need to know to look confident and flawless on your special day. Learn how to escort you bride on to the dance floor, how to hold dance position, how to find the beat of the music, how to lead with confidence and how the lady will follow with beauty and grace. These small steps will help you to show your love and romance to your friends and family and loved ones.
We left this to the last minute and our wedding is very soon, Can you still teach us in time for the wedding or special occasion?
Yes!, we can arrange private one on one emergency sessions for you. We are available seven days a week for private dance lessons and can help you to feel reassured about your first dance. You can purchase one individual private lesson and even pay as you go. We know the time demands it takes to prepare for your special day. Let our dance instructors get you off to the right start
